Silver Spring Stage is proud and excited to announce our lineup for the 2026-27 season!
We open with the 2026 ONE-ACT FESTIVAL over two weekends (August 14-23) with original plays that will amuse, intrigue, and captivate you. Different shows will run each weekend.
Then on September 18, we open BERNHARDT/HAMLET by Theresa Rebeck, directed by Seth Ghitelman. The most famous actress of her time, Sarah Bernhardt takes on the challenge of playing the iconic Shakespearean role of Hamlet. She sets off a misogynistic debate of who controls the production of theater. BERNHARDT/HAMLET will run three weekends (September 18-October 4).
MACBETH by William Shakespeare, directed by Madeleine Smith, will run four weekends (October 23-November 15). Shakespeare’s MACBETH is a wicked tragedy that explores the corrosive nature of absolute power, the myopic drive for legacy, and the cost of unchecked ambition. As Macbeth’s tyranny plunges Scotland into fear and bloodshed, the nation rises to reclaim its future and overthrow a tyrant.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens will run two weekends (December 11-20). This Christmas classic returns to Silver Spring. Director to be announced.
We welcome 2027 with Oliver Goldsmith’s SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER, directed by Katie Bodgan, running four weekends (January 15-February 7). Hijinks ensue over the course of one night when two unsuspecting London gentlemen arrive for a visit to the Hardcastle country estate and encounter the women destined to conquer their affections.
RIGHTS PENDING PLAY #1: Dannielle Hutchinson directs a play about a student body with mumps that will run three weekends (February 19-March 7).
Just in time for baseball season, TAKE ME OUT by Richard Greenberg, directed by Ned Kieloch, will run three weekends (April 23-May 9). In Richard Greenberg’s Tony Award-Winning play, “America’s National Pastime” gets thrown a curve. When a handsome superstar outfielder announces that he is gay, he sets in motion a chain of events that, like the game of baseball and the game of life, bring about both heartbreak and joy.
RIGHTS PENDING PLAY #2: Director Rikki Howie Lacewell closes our season with a play about taxi cabs in Pittsburgh running three weekends (June 11-27).
