Silver Spring Stage is holding auditions for the 2026 One-Act Festival. The production will be produced by Tristan Poje and Angela Walker Carrington. Performances will be August 13-23, 2026. There will be different shows each weekend.
Auditions will be held at Silver Spring Stage (10145 Colesville Rd, Silver Spring, MD) on:
Tuesday July 7 from 7 – 10 pm
Wednesday July 8 from 7 – 10 pm
No Callbacks.

NOTES ABOUT THE AUDITIONS
Actors will need to complete both steps listed above.
Please bring a resume and headshot if you wish.
The auditions will consist of monologues and cold readings.
Each actor will perform a 90 second monologue of their choosing. Sample monologues will be available if you do not have one.
After the monologues, directors will ask actors to do short cold readings from the scripts.
Casting decisions will be made by the directors after the July 8th auditions.
Scripts are not available before the auditions.
NOTES ABOUT SCHEDULING
Actors must note their conflicts throughout the rehearsal process and run of the show,
Rehearsals will typically be held two-three times a week, on both weeknights and weekends, depending on cast availability. Each director will determine the schedule for their show.
Rehearsals will be held at Silver Spring Stage.
Cast attendance is required at all rehearsals as called by the director unless a conflict has been previously indicated.
Cast must be available for all tech and dress rehearsals and performances.
Week #1 Tech and dress rehearsals begin Saturday August 8, 2026
Week #2 Tech and dress rehearsals begin Saturday August 15, 2026
Performances will be Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 PM, with Sunday matinee at 2:00 PM.

Harriet and Ruth

Synopsis: Harriet Tubman is traveling from Philadelphia to Baltimore with a Jewish woman, Ruth, who has come to America after experiencing anti-Semetic violence in Turkey. Harriet questions Ruth’s loyalty to working with the Underground Railroad. A white man comes upon them and starts acting threateningly; both women respond to pressure in a way that helps to prove Ruth’s loyalty.

Anne Sexton Has A Band

This play examines a completely fictional, imagined moment in Sexton’s life. Taking a poetry class under the tutelage of Robert Lowell and coping with the fallout of a tempestuous marriage, Anne Sexton searches for an alternative to the heavy hand of men looking to direct her work and her life—and finally realize the artistic respect that has eluded her…on her terms.
