columbinus Makes 7 Ruby Griffith Awards in 7 Years
for Silver Spring Stage

Best Play for columbinus

Silver Spring Stage received the presigious Ruby Griffith Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Play for its production of columbinus. This marks the 7th year in a row that the Stage has been recognized for excellence in community theatre. The ceremony was held on Sunday, July 12, 2009. columbinus, by Stephen Karam and P.J. Paparelli, was directed by Bridget Muehlbeger and Andrea Spitz.

The Ruby Griffith Awards are sponsored by The British Players and have been presented annually since 1969. With columbinus, the Stage has been recognized with 15 total awards, making it the second highest nuber of all community theatres in the region. Each participating community theatre designates its nomination. For the 2008-2009 season, 30 theatres nominated shows.
