Silver Spring Stage presents its 2009 One-Act Festival,
a poignant and stimulating collection of mostly original one-act
plays, many by local playwrights. Each weekend will feature three
different plays that prove in their own ways that humor and passions
are what make us human. One play in the festival will be entered
in the state festival later this season.
Weekend 1 August 6 - 9

A little eavesdropping has unexpected results.

Weekend 2 August 13 - 16
Clean by Audrey Cefaly
Directed by Leta Hall
Marisol, a waitress, and Roberto, a dishwasher, work together at a
small diner. A conversation after the late shift reveals more than

place, a sense of purpose... and this thing...whatever it is...it keeps
you."
The Archivist by Adam Ruben

In this comic sketch, a struggling couple hires an archivist to record and document every detail of their relationship. Ultimately, they discover that some things are better left forgotten and the fallibility of human memory is not such a bad thing after all.

Weekend 3 August 20 - 23
Exit Interview by Steve LaRocque
Directed by Chris Curtis
In a contemporary corporate setting, one man's personal reckoning takes place through the metaphor of the exit interview. A man, recently deceased, meets the Recording Angel, who appears to him as a corporate admin assistant. As she guides him through the exit interview, he reviews the events, passions, misdeeds, and enduring loyalties of his mortal life, and proceeds toward his personal judgment.
The Barrow Boy by Jacy D'Aiutolo
Directed by Ben Davis
A macabre fable about two unlikely lovers, and a judge's son who will do anything to keep them apart. A pantomime about tenderness, violence, and the question if redemption is ever a possibility...
Duet by Jacy D'Aiutolo
Directed by David Dieudonne
Two former lovers reminisce on their 2-year relationship, and the events that led to its abrupt ending. This touching piece examines regret, the power of memory, and how, in one moment, everything can change.
