Plans are underway for Silver Spring Stage's
2008 One Act Festival which will be held over three weekends
in late August and early September. Silver Spring Stage
is seeking original or published one-act scripts. Playwrights are
encouraged to submit plays with or without a Director named. Directors
should submit a proposal describing their concept for the play and
a theatrical resume.
Guidelines:
- The play can be no longer than 60 minutes in duration
- A royalty waiver is required for original submissions
- Send or email 2 copies of the play to the address noted below
Performances for any play are one weekend only, but the entire
Festival has three weekends:
- First weekend - August 14, 15, 16, 17, 2008
- Second Weekend - August 21, 22, 23, 24, 2008
- Third Weekend - August 28, 29, 30, 31, 2008
Performances will be Thurs/Fri/Sat at 8 PM and Sunday matinees
at 2 PM.

Silver Spring Stage offers an intimate, flexible
and unique performance space. The stage dimensions are 23 feet x
22 feet for a total playing area of 506 square feet. If you have
not seen the stage, we recommend you make a visit to help yourself
visualize a production. Physically, it is laid out in a diamond
shape, with the two lower sides of the diamond facing the audience,
and a floor-to-ceiling support pole at the tip. The upper sides
of the diamond have backstage areas behind them. The house seats
120. A distinct advantage at Silver Spring Stage is we can accommodate
rehearsal space for all the one-acts. There will be a rotating schedule
of available rehearsal spaces. Though the Stage has its own set
construction area, storage, costumes, props and other set pieces,
we encourage the one-acts to have minimal production elements. |
